Email Workshops


Buttafly Communications offers email writing/arts workshops for those who enjoy learning via email along with one to one feedback and correspondence. These email workshops are taught via topic. Each workshop covers ten selected topics as it relates to subjects such as fiction, nonfiction, poetry, media, arts, etc. You are allowed to choose which topic that you would like to start with and if you choose to only work on one topic per workshop, that would be perfectly fine. For example, you may only choose setting as a topic to work on during a fiction workshop.

It's affordable, only five dollars per topic...

You learn at your own pace...

Each topic is taught within the span of a week...(Within this week you will be engaged with relevant exercises and activities (possible mini projects), active correspondence with your instructor as well as receiving pertinent emails about writers/artists who best exemplify the topic that you are working on.

Registration

Just forward an email to buttafly100@yahoo.com with the name of the workshop and or selected topic, your contact info/email address. After you send in your registration you'll receive an email invoice via Paypal. Once you have remitted payment you will receive a confirmation email (this will include your workshop start date, three days after your remitted payment). Note: You can purchase a whole workshop (which will include all ten topics).
Payment

Once you have sent your registration via email, you will be sent an invoice to your email address via Paypal. Once payment has been received you will receive a confirmation email/invoice and you will be all set to start!

*Super Flash Fiction (Topics- Inspiration/Brain-storming, Keeping It Short, Planning/Framework, Point of View, Voice, Character, Setting, Dialogue/Style, Re-Vision, The Final Draft/Yes there is such a thing as one!)

*Hip Hop Poetics- (Topics- What is Hip Hop?, Keeping It Real (Content and Power), Rhythm, Ryhme, Diction, Metaphors, Similes, Image, Repitition, Structure.)- Levels/ Youth (12-18) Adult (18 and over).

*Fiction 101- Topic-Inspiration/Brain-storming, Planning/Framework, Point of View, Voice, Character, Setting, Dialogue, Style, Re-Vision, The Final Draft/Yes there is such a thing as one!

*Non Fiction 101- Beginnings, Types of Non Fiction, Planning/Framework, Narrative, Facts, Character, Setting, Voice, Re-Vision, Putting It All Together.

Note- all these are Adult classes with the exception of Hip Hop Poetics .

Instructor Bio- Tarsha Semakula is a talented writer and poet who has published a book of poetry titled Gyrations of A Hip Hop Poet and whose manuscript The Beautiful Mess was a finalist for Hamline University’s Outstanding Thesis In Fiction in May of 2008. Her three short stories, Came Upon the Hill, Bird, and Cockroach garnered her a fellowship to Nairobi, Kenya to work with acclaimed international writers at the annual Summer Literary Seminar upcoming in December. She is also at work on an upcoming nonfiction book titled “The Lovely Life Of Dorothy A. Malone.” Ms. Semakula has an MFA In Creative Writing from Hamline University.
